ISGE 19th Annual Congressin conjunction with theAGES XX Annual Scientific Meeting

After 21 years has gynaecological endoscopy come of age? The
answer is ....

Most procedures previously performed by laparotomy have now been
successfully performed with the help of the laparoscope. But is there
any evidence to support this enthusiastic uptake of this relatively new
surgical approach?
isge 2010 sydneyFor the first time, the surgical approach to pathology has come under
the microscope. Surgical procedures such as hysterectomy have
been handed down through generations of gynaecologists as the gold
standard of treatment. Now with the advent of a minimally invasive
approach to gynaecological disease, the question is always asked -
“where is the evidence?”
This congress will address the pros and cons of the laparoscopic
approach to the whole range of gynaecological procedures which
have been reported.

This exciting program will be complimented by a fabulous social
program for participants and partners in one of the most beautiful
cities in the world – Sydney, Australia.

The International Society for Gynecologic Endoscopy and the
Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society are delighted to co-host
this meeting, and we are certain that participants will leave Sydney full of new scientifically based knowledge and a “rucksack” full of
happy Aussie memories.

We have a fellowship in Gynec Endoscopy at V.S.Hospital & N.H.L. Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad for 6 months. But I suggest that we form a group of people at ISGE who have background in training & also long standing in Endoscopy Surgery. ISGE can then offer/organize training course in countries like Nigeria with local college/ISGE members.

So we need to evolve better ,faster techniquies along with newer safer technologies in fluid management systems which will make the surgery safer and give more time to the hysteroscopic surgeon.I invite anyone with newer innovative ideas to share with us the technquies to make the learning curve to hysteroscopic surgery shorter n safer

I believe training Hysteroscopy is a long and a tedious process, more so because of the uterine anatomy n the very less space inside the uterus. There is another reason for the long learning curve, the fact that the uterus is a very muscular organ and reqiures to be distended while doing even a daignostic proceedures.

What can ISGE do to help local gynaecologist develop their skills in endoscopic surgery? I am the only gynaecologist offering advanced endoscopy in Nigeria right now and there is a lot of interest and zeal by clinicians wanting to train. Some are spending about 5000 US dollars in India for what is said to be a fellowship certificate in India
