ISGE Secretariat Report

Robert O’Shea, MDThe International Society Gynecological Endoscopy (ISGE) was founded in 1988. As we enter our third decade, ISGE retains its unique position as the only genuinely international gynaecological endoscopy Society today. Our membership truly spans the world. We are well represented in traditional
strongholds such as Europe and North America. However, many of our members hail from Asia, Africa and South America, including
the major developing markets of India and China. ISGE offers the opportunity to rub shoulders with the major endoscopic players from all corners of the world.
The Society currently holds two Annual Meetings.
The Annual Congress and the Regional Meeting. Our meetings have been held in all corners of the world. ISGE offers Societies, particularly from developing countries, its unique brand and credibility to underpin major
International meetings on distant shores.
The ISGE family includes over 50 of the major players in gynaecological endoscopic surgery throughout the world who are willing to be part of our huge International Faculty at each meeting.
Additional membership benefits include access to our website and superb surgical sites such as Trocar.com. The Society also provides access to the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology for its members.
The ISGE Board consists of 30 members who come from the following International regions:
North America, Central & South America, Europe, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Africa
Middle East

This guarantees that there is widespread input from all regions of the world in the running
of the Society. The President is elected on a rotating basis from either the Americas, Europe and Africa or Asia and Oceana. Board members are elected for a term of four years. Their role is to represent their region, attend and present at ISGE meetings throughout the world and to hold and run meetings for the Society at different times. We called for nominations for the new board in 2010 in January. The newly elected Board members will take office at the ISGE 19th Annual Congress in Sydney, May 2010 and serve until 2014.
