Helium Thermal Ablation of Endometriosis Helica Instruments Ltd, manufacture equipment used in a treatment called Helium Thermal Ablation. This procedure has been available since 1995 and has now been carried out on over 10,000 patients. Helium Thermal Ablation has proven to be a safe and effective way in the treating of endometriosis. The generator unit (the Helica TC machine) is now in 97 hospitals throughout the UK. This means that while endometriosis is being diagnosed during a procedure called a diagnostic laparoscopy, the disease can then be treated in the early stages of development thereby avoiding further visits to the operating theatre.
