Two Great Men,
Two Great Endoscopic Surgeons
Two Great Men
Two Great Men, Carl Wood and Kurt Semm were friends for many years. Carl, known worldwide for his success in the field of IVF was quick to see the advantages of endoscopic surgery.

In 1989 he travelled to Keil to spend time with one of endoscopy's great pioneers, Kurt Semm. "Having learned the tricks of the trade" he purchased an overnight bag full of every piece of equipment Kurt thought would be useful-some of it is still in mint condition!
When Carl returned to Australia , together with me and others, he set up a group known as "The Melbourne Gynoscopy Group". The MGG rapidly advanced in endoscopic skills Harry Reich and I
had already performed the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in Australia so Carl and I led the charge.
We invited Kurt and Lilo out to our centre to demonstrate their skills and formally open our centre in '91.The pictures show the two old friends between surgical cases and Kurt,Lilo and me during surgery.
Sadly Kurt has passed on and Carl suffers from a severe form of Alzheimer's disease.Fortunately Lilo is firing on all cylinders and I am somewhere in the middle! I thought members may be interested in a little of yesteryear ie.the good times.
