A Personal Tribute

I met Jordan at my first AAGL meeting in Orlando in the early 90s where I presented my first paper, co-authored with David Hill,  on endometrial ablation. My next major encounter with him was in Melbourne where he presented the first advanced endoscopic workshop with a faculty which included Frank Loeffer, Harry Reich, Jean Luc Pouly, and Ron Levine which resulted in me taking a total surgical career change and, shortly afterwards, performing the first laparoscopic hysterectomy in Australia. Together with Carl Wood I was included in many AAGL workshops the most memorable being the “travelling IFFG show”in South East Asia with Duncan Turner and Christo Papasakaleriou in the mid 90s. It was during this time that I really got a great insight into the real Jordan, and Mary, and realised what a wonderful person he was. Jordan and Mary made me feel very welcome each time I saw them at at the various AAGL meetings and the European meetings he attended despite the huge demand that there must have been on his time. Rarely do we have the opportunity to meet great men but I feel I have been lucky enough to meet one-Vale Jordan Phillips.
