As you all know, two weeks ago I completed my mandate as President of our Society.
During the past very intense two years, the ISGE had to make important decisions regarding its future and had to cope with the economic crisis that caused a radical change in our customs and in the relationship with our sponsors.
This economic climate has forced some societies to look for new partners and join with new ones. Even us, we received a proposal of fusion by the AAGL and we have been trying to identify the best solution for the ISGE. We all have been seriously committed during several months on this concern, in order to make the suitable decision for both the societies. Period and work which ended in the reciprocal resolution (AAGL e ISGE) to remain separated and independent.
Regrettably, during this period, one of my objectives, maybe the main one - was not achieved. This was to professionalise the ISGE by assuming a PCO for the administration, organisation of Congresses and management of sponsors. In fact, it had been “frozen” in order to focus on the issue of the fusion process with the AAGL. Despite that, we have succeeded in solidifying the economic relationships with sponsors.
Closed the “AAGL issue”, we have been able to restart talks with the PCO which had been previously selected and this year, in spite of many hurdles, a decision will probably be taken.
I am sure that the new president, Chuck Miller, expert friend, will be able to finalize my “dream” and lead the Board in the right direction and act in the best interests of the ISGE.
With a committed, more efficient and professional structure, both administrative and organizational, our Society will be able to develop exponentially, confirming its international vocation and amplifying its world leadership.
I am sure that the new President, helped by the whole Board, and with my full support and backup, will lead the ISGE towards new important goals.
