Objectives & Scope
The journal TheTrocar, is an international clinical journal of the International Society of Gynecological Endoscopy for the exchange and dissemination of ideas, knowledge, teaching content, diagnostics and techniques important for gynecological endoscopy and other minimally invasive procedures. In addition, we present research data, clinical opinions and case reports from young and advanced researchers. The special focus is on offering researchers from disadvantaged regions of the world access to scientific publications.
Benefits for authors
TheTrocar is completely open access and thus makes the content accessible worldwide. Members can publish completely free of charge.
Please read our Authors’ Guide for information on submitting articles. If you need more information or assistance, please visit our Support Center for publishing instructions.
Informed consent and patient data
Apart from observational studies and require their consent in studies on patients or subjects. Studies with direct data access should be agreed by an official ethics committee. If an author wishes to include case details or other personal information or images of patients and others in a TheTrocar publication, appropriate consents and approvals must be obtained. Written consents must be retained by the author (no distribution to the journal). Only at the express request of the journal in exceptional cases (e.g. if a legal problem arises) must the author provide copies of the consents or evidence to prove that they have been obtained. If there is no written permission from the patient (or, if applicable, the next of kin), a patient’s personal data must be removed prior to submission.
Declaration of interest
All writers must disclose all financial and personal relationships with other persons or organizations that may unreasonably affect their work. For example: employment, consulting firms, stock ownership, fees, paid expert opinions, patent applications/registrations and scholarships or other financing. Authors must disclose any interests: There is a special template for this in the manuscript manager. If there are no interests to declare, please indicate: “Declarations of interest: none”.
Human and animal studies
If the work involves the use of human subjects, the author should ensure that the described work was carried out in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Helsinki Declaration) for experiments with humans. The manuscript should be consistent with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals and aim at the inclusion of representative human populations (gender, age and ethnicity) in accordance with these recommendations. The terms sex and gender should be used correctly.
The authors should include in the manuscript a statement that a consent form has been obtained for experiments with human subjects. The personal rights of persons must always be observed.
All animal testing should comply with the ARRIVE guidelines and be conducted in accordance with the U.K. Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 and related guidelines, EU Directive 2010/63/EU on animal testing, or the National Research Council’s Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the authors should clearly indicate in the manuscript that these guidelines have been followed. Also, sex of the animals must be indicated.
Use of inclusive language
Inclusive language conveys respect for all people, recognizes diversity, is sensitive to differences and promotes equal opportunities. The content should not make assumptions about a reader’s beliefs or obligations; contain anything that could indicate that one person is superior to another on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, disability or state of health. Therefore, you use an inclusive language throughout. Authors should ensure that the writing is free of prejudice, stereotypes, colloquialism, reference to the prevailing culture, and/or cultural assumptions. If coding terminology is used, avoid offensive or negative terms such as “master”, “slave”, “blacklist” and “whitelist”. We recommend the use of more suitable and (self-)explanatory alternatives such as.
Declaration of submission
Only articles that have not been previously published (except in the form of an abstract, a published paper or a scientific paper, see “Multiple, redundant or simultaneous publication” for further information) are to be submitted. In addition, it may not be considered for publication elsewhere. It is assumed and expected that the publication has been implicitly or expressly approved by all authors by the competent authorities on which the work was carried out and, if accepted, that it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or other language.
Authorship
Authorship should meet the criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICJME):
The following partial services should be provided:
The cover letter attached to the submitted manuscript must confirm that each author has fulfilled these conditions. By publishing a manuscript in TheTrocar, the authors agree to transfer copyright to TheTrocar. This authorization will allow for the widest distribution of your work under established publishing guidelines.
Changes in authorship
Authors are expected to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and to submit the final list of authors at the time of original submission. Any addition, deletion or rearrangement of author names in the author list should only be made before the manuscript has been accepted and only if it has been approved by the editor of the journal. To make the change, the Corresponding Author must submit the following information: (1) the reason for the change in the author list and (2) a written confirmation (e-mail) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or reorganization. In the case of adding or removing authors, this includes confirmation of the added or removed author.
Only in exceptional cases will the editor consider adding, deleting or rearranging authors after acceptance of the manuscript. If the manuscript has already been published on-line, all requests approved by the editor will result in a corrigendum.
Copyrights
Since all articles are published open-access, the authors have full access for redistribution. The publication in TheTrocar should always be engaged, as TheTrocar reserves the right to publish as a journal.
